H. 'Big City Nights' (Pickles, 08)..........$125.00
28" SEv/D M 4 3/4". Tet.
An unusual dark plum-raisin-mulberry blend with a mauve watermark and
a blend of yellow-to-lime in the throat. The petals are finished with
lavish white edges on the elegant ruffles and all combine to add to
'Big City Nights' distinction. The substance is excellent and the
color stands up as well to the sun as any I have seen. The pollen is
fertile, and although I have set pods on it, it is not easy. 19 buds.
Seedling No. C0300 (Thunder And Lightning X Awesome Bob).

H. 'Bodega Bay' (Pickles, 08).............$125.00
28" SEv M Re LFr 5 1/2" Tet.
Like a pink pearl, this polychrome has a tint of pink with a tinge of
yellow over an ivory base evoking memories of tropical dawns. With
its triangular form, 'Bodega Bay' (on the northern California
coast) has ruffles with lemon edges and a bright citrus green throat
which radiates prominently out onto the petals. A kid of 'Horny
Devil', the petal edges carry a more sophisticated toothy edge.
Fertile both ways. 25 buds. Seedling No. 04108 (Edge Of Heaven X Horny Devil).

H. 'Calistoga' (Pickles, 08)...................$150.00
27" SEv E Re 5 1/2". Tet. Named for one of our favorite Napa
Valley towns, 'Calistoga' is a full-formed soft polychrome of pinks,
creams and pale yellows with a yellow ruffled edge. The color is
darker at the petal edge and lightens as it approaches the large
greenish yellow throat ending in a green heart. The substance is
excellent and it holds well in the sun. The 23 buds are carried on
well branched scapes. A very vigorous grower, 'Calistoga' is both pod
and pollen fertile. Seedling No. 0547 (Belle Cook X Candied Popcorn
Perfection).

H. 'Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary' (Pickles, 08)....$125.00
27" SEv M Re 5 1/4" Tet
Jean and I celebrated our 50th on August 17, 2007. We wanted to
commemorate the occasion with a daylily and we chose this polychrome
of tropical colors like the sunset of our lives. A lush, full figured
blossom with complicated subtle layering of peach, pink and citrus
colors. Heavy ruffling creates unusual twists and turns into the lime
green throat. Good substance with 20 plus buds. Fertile both ways.
Seedling No. 0491 [Doc Branch X (Sunshine Riches X Doc Branch)].

H. 'Jean Pickles' (Pickles, 08).............$200.00
30" SEv/D M 5 1/2" Tet.
Jean and I have finally agreed on a cultivar to carry her name. The
flower's beautiful symmetry, its round, re-curved form of crimson
with a fuchsia overlay combine to create a ripe cherry red. The
feminine creamy edged ruffling makes a truly lovely flower. Holds
extremely well in the sun. This is one of our most heavily used pod
and pollen parents and you will see some of her kids highlighted in
this catalog. 21 buds. Seedling No. C0307 (Return To Paradise X Awesome Bob).

H. 'Joy Nolan' (Pickles, 08).................$100.00
28" SEv E Re 5" Tet.
The deep sculpting and extreme ruffles of this pale acacia self makes
'Joy Nolan' a noteworthy and distinctive flower. Early in the cool
bloom season, the flower will exhibit more of a cinnamon color. The
lime tinged throat is almost obscured with the beautiful
ruffles extending down into the heart. This flower is named for a
friend at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo who helped me look good in
planning the Mid-Winter Symposium all those years. The scapes carry
21 plus buds and is fertile. Seedling No. 0504 (Beyond Riches X Bas
Relief)

H. 'The Fringe Connection' (Pickles, 08) .........$100.00
26" SEv M Re 5" Tet
Almost lemon, however, the dominate feature of the pale, pale flower
is its edge, probably best described as a boucle...which is a knotted
and twisted fringe. The distinct fringing appears also on the sepals
adding to its exuberance. 'The Fringe Connection' is one of those
flowers that everyone stops to admire the fringed edge. Fertile both
ways and it carries 19 plus buds. Producing nice fringed seedlings.
This flower does have a problem with green sepals in cooler weather.
Seedling 0360 (Edge Of Heaven X Forestlake Ragamuffin).

32" SEv ML Re 6 1/2" Tet.
A beautifully re-curved polychrome with a distinctive pale blush of
pink . . . like the sunset when it slips over the mountains in Napa
Valley. The wide heavy ruffles are highlighted in yellow which echoes
the citrus throat color that ends in a green heart. The 'Yountville
Inn' is one of our favorite places to stay in the middle of Napa
Valley. 25 buds carried on well branched tall scapes. Good substance
holds well. Fertile both ways. Seedling No. 04103 (Return To Paradise
X Candied Popcorn Perfection).
