Dear Daylily Friends, This was a trying year for growing daylilies. The weather was cold/warm/freezing and extremely dry, all affecting the daylily bloom season. It was difficult to get an accurate picture of bloom, bud count, branching, etc. We looked at our introductions in the field this year and along with notes from previous years, we came up with our information. On August 17, 2007, Jean and I celebrated our 50th anniversary. To commerate the occasion, we have named a daylily, H. 'Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary'. Naturally, we feel that it is a special daylily. We have eight new introductions this year for your consideration. All are tetraploids. All will be single fans. All are limited. If you would like to order the entire collection, we will send you the eight new introductions for $800.00, a savings of $275.00, and we will pay the shipping. I have been wanting to name a daylily for Jean for several years, and for one reason or another, we could not agree on a cultivar . . . until this year! We both were bowled over by a seedling from (Return To Paradise X Awesome Bob) and have selected this cultivar to carry her name, H. 'Jean Pickles'. I am excited and pleased! Through the middle of our brochure and on 3/4 of another page, we have included some images of seedlings that we have under evaluation. You will see some of the offspring of H. 'Jean Pickles'. Check the seedlings on our web site for more JP offspring. These seedlings are not for sale. Many of our cultivars do well in the north, growing in Iowa, Minnesota, Maine and Nebraska, among other states. We will try to meet your request for shipping starting in March. This sometimes is a very wet month which does not allow us to get into the field to dig. Remember, this is not Florida and plants will not be large that early. Please be patient with us and we will get your orders out as close to the date requested as possible. Daylily gift certificates are available for any amount or occasion. We will gladly hold plants from e-mail and telephone calls for ten days, at which time we expect to receive your written order and check in the mail. Sorry for this inconvenience, but we are a small family garden and have only so many plants of each introduction. We are State inspected and guarantee plants to be true to name. Chattanooga Daylilies does not accept credit cards, but prefers checks. It has just gotten too expensive for us to accept credit cards. If you find yourself in the southeast near Chattanooga, please stop and visit with us. In March, April, and May we have many newer cultivars blooming in the greenhouse. We usually have good garden bloom from the end of May to the end of June. We also have several thousand seedlings blooming. A call ahead is appreciated to insure we are here to greet you.
