The important feature of this flower is the oxblood halo pattern. Why is this important?
Because it has broken into that ‘Forestlake Ragamuffin’ color barrier and has retained the
teeth on the petals plus adding them to the sepals. Garden visitors would stop and look at
this flower, move on, then go back and look again. Some hybridizers that have visited are
anxious to get their hands on ‘HEH’ to use in their hybridizing programs. Fertile both ways
but not an easy pod parent.

H. ‘Italian Lace’ has been a particular favorite of mine since first bloom. Heavily shirred
Tuscan red borders on petals of lush pink infused cream segments. The ruffled Tuscan
red edge intertwines with the base color around the petals giving it a double edge look.
‘Italian Lace’ presents a bright color in the perennial border. The substance is
exceptionally good and holds up well to both rain and sun. It is fertile both ways and

leather and is extremely smooth The sculpting is extremely deep. The form is full and
round. The color is a yellow/cream self leading to a green heart. If you look closely, you
can see a fringe beginning to show on the petal edges. I believe that I will have
fringed/toothed edges on sculpted flowers in another generation or two using ‘SG’. Fertile
both ways.
